My father, Ernst Håkon Jahr (1911-75), was 1. mate (1.styrmann) on the Belpareil April 28, 1944 to April 15, 1946. Before Belpareil he was 1. mate on the Belray from January 24, 1940 to April 24, 1944 - when Belray was involved in the terrible Bombay explosion.

My father, Ernst Håkon Jahr (1911-75), was master (captain) of the Belpareil July 9, 1948 to November 22, 1950. The Belparail was my father's first ship as master.
