Carrying Tiles

Madurai

I can'thelp it, every morning I had to pass this street and company of tiles, not only beautiful tiles .... :))

Most probably she is married seeing the black robe on her neck and the sticker she has put, a fine red spot called bindi(Hindi), pottu(Tamil) meaning dot. This dot, sometimes also tilak, tikka or teeka called had originally a strong relegious meaning but nowadays became more a decorative item, used by all Indian women, married as well non-married, Hindu as well non-Hindu.

More of the religious meaning you will find on Wipikedia under the name of Tilaka.

One more of simple hard working women in the street, making them special.

other sizes: small medium original auto
