Brilliant.

At least you used the gin bottle.

I'm not familiar with the artist. but comparing it to the one below, I now see the hilarity in your presentation. At first I thought it was a painting. Very creative.

I like the composition and light in this. It's plenty of dramatic power, and the great play of light and dark takes the sight to the paper, as if here it was written the name of the murder...
But (I have to say to you) I think that I have seen this composition before, somewhere... endika

Absolutely awesome picture Al. If you were wianting for your best pic of the year, well, it was worth 12 months !!! Again, what the hell is your workflow ? I just can't put my hand on it, but it seems to be a bit more than burning and hadr... Very good one.

Bravo, Alistair. This is so very creative. The image is just wonderful, Except for the lack of blood it could be the original forensics photograph.

Brilliant. Hilariously funny and excellently executed. This one will be hard to beat.

Hi, thanks for the comments. It's all real, but heavily pp'd, primarily the background was darkened a lot, and some selective brightening, e.g the bottle. Couldn't get the paper looking quite right so I just faded it a bit so it looked more painted. Some of the text isn't legible in this size unfortunately, e.g. the tube of itching cream. On the whole I think I prefer David's version, but then he was a pro, and probably had an E3 ;)

I was sort of familiar with the original, in that I had a vague idea of what it looked like so I thought for a moment this was that but with modern elements added. But no, its a complete reconstruction in a modern context. What a brilliant idea and execution.
I would like to say that I was about to do "The Raft of the Medusa" by Theodore Gericault but you have spoilt it now and I have now sent all the folk I gathered for the shot away again :-)
Guest 06-Dec-2007 16:46
wow! So you staged the photo and photoshopped in the paper or? Just trying to understand the technique that led to this image. Love it! -Scott

Go away! You cannot have a picture this good! Just incredible! brent

I looked up the original:

Oh now you have really outdone yourself Al. The cell phone and Gin bottle are priceless.........maybe a laptop instead of the note would have been tres modern.

You made my day and have set this challenge off BRILLIANTLY

Weeeeeee!
