+Snap by Flick Merauld: I took a photo of a photo of me taking a photo of me

This was a self portrait taken last year.
I pulled up the RAW file this morning, processed it, then used the E1 to take the image on my screen in Photoshop.
It's a tad over sharpened to preserve a suggestion of the vertical lines my LCD screen showed in the shot.
The haziness over my right eye (left of screen) is due to light falling on the screen from the dining room window
(also responsible for making my hair look white instead of blonde).
I've left it as is because working in less than ideal light conditions is a fact of my life and a part of me.

G'day Flick - just don't take this one anywhere near the Nikon SLR forum - i think they'd diagnose some sort of problem. I v.much enjoy the original image - superb light & compelling!, and what you did to make it a challenge image. thanks heaps. adrian

You can see that they were a lot less confrontational and a lot softer in the original, but i liked the directness here.

What strikes me most about this image is/are your eyes. While diffused and skewed by the inherent difficulties of reproducing an image from a computer screen, the eye contact aspect of this image makes it a winner!

Cause I know you aren't haggard or stark. LOL And, you now have better tastes in cameras! I also like the fact that you have Photoshop up on the monitor. Makes it all work well.

Its the idea that makes this image, although the original was obviously pretty cool too. You will have to re-think this shot for the Sony and Canon forums lol.

Hi chris, thanks.
My reason for photographing it onscreen was to make it validly taken by the E1, and this was the easiest way, especially as i haven't got any ink to print it out.
To begin with i was going to do a still life with this as backdrop, without the Photoshop edges, but when i saw it i liked it as it was.
Well spotted re the two cameras (implicated in the sub title too).
