ubiQuitous mammals - kleivis
by kleivis

This young fellow found a shadow in front of our neighbours doorstep this morning. Seen one a couple of years ago in around Cape Canaveral, but this is the first time I've seen one here in Orlando area.

cute when young, when they are prying off the garbage can in NJ less so, but what I love about them is you go on the back porch, and they just kind of look at you, and seem to say, "Hey I am a raccoon,, get over it..", anybody remembering "Rascal" the book which I read in junior high school?

The reflection in the eyes appears to show people watching him ... he looks wary. I'm wondering what he's lying against? It looks like something with skin on it.

We have many raccoons here. Sometimes at night, as I work on my computer, I can hear them on the metal bird feeder outside my window. I find them engaging pests.

We have plenty of the little critters here in Minnesota. I think they are a delight to watch! Oh about 10 years ago, I had an acquaintance that lived in Osceola, FL. He found a poor Raccoon in his swimming pool and he had a hard time rescuing it. This one looks very frightened. Ha, I see he is only disturbed from his nap.
