Red Phalarope - imm. phalarope mark

This molting Red Phalarope shows the distinctive phalarope mark behind the eye and retains its light edged juvenile tertials. The yellow at the base of the lower mandible was only visible when the bird held the bill just right. Of all the Red Phalaropes that I've seen in TN, only one had a readily noticable yellow area on the lower mandible.
