Sharp-tailed Sandpiper - TN - Sept. 12- 19, 1992

Early one morning at Ensley Bottoms, this super bird was a real surprise. It was prancing its way through a large number of Pectoral Sandpipers but its walk gave it away. Fortunately it stayed for just over a week to be enjoyed by hundreds of happy birders from around the US. While birding on Island 13 years before I had a brief encounter with another but the bird flew off down the river before it could be confirmed.

Great memories of this day as well - we were meeting Jeff at "the pits" for a field trip and when I drove up he was jumping up and down waving his hands. Once I stopped I found out what the excitement was all about. One of my first real rarities in Tennessee and one of many found by the Ol' Coot!
