3rd March 2006 silent white blanket

There was complete silence.
Even the sheep were quiet,
wearing slightly bemused expressions.
I went back up alone in the evening,
the stones were nearly buried
and the snow was up to my waist up there in the drifts.
But the absolute stillness and peace were breathtaking.
