Takht-i-Suleiman and houseboats on Dal Lake.
Shankaracharya Hill is also known as the Takht-i-Suleiman. The temple atop it is one of the earliest built (dating 250 BC) and is said to be on the site of the Takht-i-Suleiman, or the Throne of Solomon. It is said that the legendary philosopher Sri Shankaracharya stayed in this temple when he came to Kashmir to spread Sanatan Dharma. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and holds a lot of importance in religious as well as architectural context. The temple is built up of specially smoothened rocks which have been set at the peak of the hill with unimaginable precision.
