Sugar mill park is not really a park. The decorated gears were part of the machinery that ground up sugar cane to produce sugar at the Billeaud Sugar Mill in Broussard. The mill closed in the late 1960's.
The mill was located across what is now US highway 90. The gears were moved to the Billeaud family property (here) adjacent to the house.
