I've gone & bought a new lens! It's not an expensive one, but I felt
I would probably need an "all in one" type lens for my holidays, sooo
after checking out reviews & prices I went for the ... wait for it...
Tamron AF28-300 f3.5-6.3 XR Di LD aspherical (IF) macro.. PHEW! The
Canon 28-300 was prohibitively expensive & the Sigma 28-300 had mostly
bad reviews - mixed reviews for the Tamron but still good enough &
cheap enough for me. Will try it out tomorrow! I must say that Pbase's
Search facility helped when I saw the pics others had taken with this lens!

Now I'm off to lie quietly in a darkened room...!
