Phoradendron leucarpum (Oak Mistletoe)

A fascinating evergreen subshrub. This plant produces white berries that the birds like. After it passes through the digestive tract of the bird, the sticky pulp containing seeds adheres to any branch it may fall on and new plants will sprout up. Absolutely awesome. No berries on this one, either it was a male plant or the birds ate all the berries. Not too common in NJ, it is very common in southern states. Easy to pick out in Winter on deciduous trees, these plants were on Black Gum, a common host plant. Rare in NJ, an S2 G5
