These birds are magickal to me. Their haunting song is heard often in the Pine Barrens, but they are rarely seen. Their eyes glow red in headlights and when they fly it's like red fireflies coursing over the road. This one was very cooperative. Couldn't get much better than these shots, but it's a goal to get a better picture of these beautiful nocturnal birds.
