REGULAR ZOOM vs. EXTENDED OPTICAL ZOOM DEMONSTRATION - (REGULAR/300mm)

An image, taken from my deck, of a new home being built in Henderson County. The distance from my deck to the house is 1/2 mile (measured by GPS).

This image and the following image demonstrate the difference in the long end of the zoom range, using the standard zoom (12X - 300mm) at 10 megapixels and the extended optical zoom (21.4X - 535mm) at 3 megapixels.

The camera was tripod mounted and the self-timer was used to trip the shutter. "Ai" selected, with spot focus on the house. "Standard" color selected.
