Another beuty, Alain. These creatures are pieces of art in themselves, and your image adds to the aesthetic value of them. I like the postprocessing here.

Beautiful! They are so out-of-this world to strat with, and you made it even more so with your treatment. Mesmerizing!

Hi Alain,
it is undoubtly a nice picture and composition. It feels a bit surnatural to me now. Maybe the PP?
Marc.

Hi Paul,

I appreciate your comment. There are a lot of things you can do with such an image. But I wanted to stay as much as possible within the constraints set by the moderator : "no creation of textures/structures in the digital darkroom...". The only thing I strived for with this kind of treatment was to emphasize the natural structure and texture of this creature. As for the 'black hole' : it comes from inversion. The shell was lit from the inside, creating on overcast of light in the 'hole'. I kind of liked it : it reminded me of a vulcanic crater - you can even see the lava flowing out of the hole ;-). I'll post an origin pic too. Feel free to experiment ! Thanks.

Hi Alain. Now that you are into PP anyway, I wonder if you could get rid of the large "black hole" in the ROT centre, by copying the texture of the outside to the inside but with a different, shady color. Might give some extra dimensions. Paul.

Alain, I sat and looked at your entry for a long time. Several things came to mind: an exotic sea shell, a Faberge Egg, a high tech milk producer for hungry piglets. Whatever, I like it. Great shot. Made me stop, look, and think.
