Eye to Eye by Tom

Took this with tripod and a hand held magnifier (the lighted kind with a small 7X circle built into a larger 2X lens). Lincoln penney, Lincoln five.

Tom,
I hate this image! "Why?", you ask. Because as I was struggling to come up with a subject for this competition, a macro of a Twenty Dollar Bill came to mind. And later that afternoon this image popped up on my screen, done so far better then anything I could have imagined. I love the opposition of the eyes, the contrast of the color and texture of the coins and the selective defocus to frame it. This has a great chance of gaining my 4 points.

Thanks for the explanation, Tom. Guess I'll have to experiment a bit with these techniques.

In PS-Elements - drew a rectangle, selected inverse, one of the menus has an effect "Texturizer", which has 4 or 5 choices. I picked burlap or Linen or something like that. It just adds a texture to whatever you selected.

Great combination and idea, Tom. Nice framing too. I'm a real sucker at framing. Can you tell how you achieved this one ?

I have been wondering if this could be done. Great idea and even better shot.
