As seen from the adjacent mountain at 10,300', The Tiger's Nest Monastery is
the most famous of Bhutan's monasteries. Prayer flags transverse the gorge
between the mountain peaks. The view is beautiful, after you catch your breath.

History states that Guru Rinpoche arrived here in the year 747 on the back of a
flying tigress to bring Buddhism to Bhutan. This was certainly an easier
journey than hiking up the mountain.
