Hamilton, Bermuda street in the winter of 1962

Hamilton, Bermuda

Lots of destroyer sailors spent a few days in Bermuda, or were stationed there. The USS Hugh Purvis pulled into Bermuda during the project mercury trip in 1962. I won a $100.00 for guessing the minute of the hour that the ship would tie up, plus some good poker money.

NOTE: I was a guest passenger abourd the Hugh Purvis for six weeks in early 1962. I had no duties, unless we picked up John Glenn. Most of the time I just stayed out of everyones way, and studied for my PH2 test.

My PH2 test was mailed to Bermuda, and I passed it.
