Phare de Gravelines

Gravelines, France

Also known as Le Phare de Petit Fort Philippe. The tower was originally unpainted. It was severely damaged during World War II and was restored in 1949. The tower now serves as an unlit beacon (daymark). This lighthouse is the subject of a well-known painting by Nicolas de Staël.
