Copper Foldformed Pendent with Sterling Trim

This piece is the first in a series of experiments combining the technique of foldforming with the hydraulic press. The 26 gauge copper top was first foldformed using line folds. After annealing it was domed in a hydraulic press, I made a custom shaped forming frame and used a 60 durometer urethane pad. A Sterling frame and back were then assembled to the copper. The piece was patinated with Baldwins Patina from Reactive Metals. I like the Baldwins because it patinates the copper but doesn’t affect the silver. Finally the copper was sealed with a microcrystalline wax.

The tube set stone is a 6 mm Tsavorite Garnet.

other sizes: small medium original auto
