-EARTH, SPIRIT, SKY-
Tecopa CA February 2007

As we drove up to this cemetery one of my friends said that she didn't like cemeteries. I have mixed feelings about them. I think this image captures the sense of place for a life lived in Tecopa

As always, your spiritual dimension prevails.

Yes, the graves as metaphor for human spirit and the crosses as symbols for religious spirit are what I was aiming at.

Nobody "likes" cemeteries. But all of us must respect their significance. We are, afterall, mortals. Now I know what you were doing down on the ground next to that grave. You merge the mountain, which is essentially immortal, with these reminders of our own mortality. If you see the graves as a metaphor for the human spirit, the image adds another layer of meaning as well.
