-IMAGE MAKER-
Shoshone CA February 2007

My friend Phil is hard at work at the first stage of image making - taking the picture - In this image I like the fact of the blur at the bottom of the image because it seems to me a metaphor for image making - it is the artist trying to create clarity and interest out of the blur of the environment.

Here the image maker has discovered a "window of opportunity" and is hard at work taking advantage of it. How many times have we seen Phil in this position? In your image making, you certainly captured the intensity and concentration that Phil brings to his creativity and in doing so, you have demonstrated your own intensity and creativity.

Wonderful metaphor, Tim -- indeed, as artists we are all seeking clarity. I find clarity through abstraction -- taking away, rather than adding. That's what I am doing here, and that's what you are doing here, as well. I would like to add this image to my "As others see me" gallery. Thanks, Phil.
