The KC-135 has its boom down, so it's most likely there's a receiving aircraft taking or ready to take fuel. I flew KC-135s in the '70s, when they were already 20+ years old. Most amazing flight was over North Pole, flying THROUGH Aurora Borealis, which, until I did it, I did not know you could do. I had always thought Northern Lights were like rainbows. But back to the photo, great composition, great patience, to line up your subjects for your plane and moon pictures.

just imagine how much distance is between the moon and that plane. Pretty sweet how you can see the boom from the KC-135...great picture
