A Star is Born

Brooklyn Botanic Gardens, Brooklyn, New York

A natural star design in a strange and unique flower found at the BBG (Brooklyn Botanic Gardens). Unfortunately, I was negligent in writing down the name or species of this flower. A regret. Because the flower was so isolated, high in the air and I focused the flower so closely at 75mm, I was able to still get a nice bokeh with my aperture stopped down to f/8.0. This way I was able to capture those fine lines which make up that star shape and get the bokeh at the same time. Of course the weather helped out...the overcast day, at the gardens, with the sun hiding behind the thick and misty clouds, helped to not overexpose the flower under such settings.

Hi Michael, this is a curious looking species but certainly very striking in appearance.....like stars in the galaxy. Glad that you had captured it so beautifully to share with others. Best wishes, Fong
