The WWI fighting was horrendous in this area. Many folks think of WWI as trenches, mud, machine guns and artillery. That took place here, in a very mountainous area, just as it did on the plains of Flanders. Troops carved dugouts out of the snow.
I wasn't trying to have a forlorn look on my face. Jen snapped before I was set, I guess.
