Deer On Two Legs 71162

Palo Duro Canyon State Park

One of several deer I saw here that were standing and balancing on their rear legs
in order to reach what they obviously considered to be succulent leaves. I'd never
seen deer do this before, but of course, I've never seen that many deer in the wild,
so this might actually be common practice for all I know.

As I was sitting on my porch in Tennessee, I saw four deer, each standing on two legs, around a sumac bush. It was an amazing sight. I wanted to keep the image in my mind, and even imagined a "paint by number" set for myself, since I have no drawing or painting talent. I looked through thousands of images on the internet to find a standing deer, but found only one - yours. [Deer On Two Legs 71162, 03-NOV-2007] This may be a common practice for the deer, but yours is an uncommon photograph. Thank you!

A tender image of a sleek, perfect creature, presumably "doing what comes naturally". A great find.
