Old MDC/Roundhouse coal gondolas being updated to more or less match the Athearn upgraded version. I have 7 of these that I overweathered about 20 years ago and never liked much. After spending some time looking at FPPX photos, I noticed LCRX cars in the mix here and there. So the old unused BN gons are being turned into LCRX gons.

At this point, all I've done is true up the ribs with the underframe (these cars were known for the terrible mismatch between these parts), add the small ladders, a stand-off plate for the ACI labels, a little extra weight and upgrade the wheels.

I mixed up a batch of orange from Model Master International Orange (5 parts), Insignia Yellow (2 parts) and Flat White (1 part) to get close to the color in the photos I found. I primed the ends with MM Neutral Gray before the orange to try to get the color even and to use as little orange paint as possible.
