Red-necked Grebe

Pace Point area; Henry Co TN

While scanning from Coot Bay, my 1st surprise was this Red-necked Grebe. After watching it in the distance for a few minutes I started scanning again, only to pick up the two Western Grebes. There was also a Pacific Loon in this area.

Lighting wasn't good at this time, this bird has largely come into alternate plumage (the brightest I've yet seen a Red-necked) with a very nicely contrasting silver cheek, and nice red on the top of the neck, though the lower neck is still pale.
