Terrible photo, but it does show a feature that can put you on a good bird at long-range. The wing-flick this Scoter is doing as it dives isn't done by our common divers. In addition to White-winged Scoter, other ducks that do this are Surf Scoter (but not Black), Harlequin and Long-tailed Duck, and Eiders.
