Yellow-billed Loon

Pace Point area, TN

Once again, the main feature coming out of this shot is the long, thick neck and upturned posture to the head and bill. It doesn't show well in any of my shots, but this bird has a trememdous bill on it. The analogy was made that it had the profile of an Agami Heron for those of you familiar with this bird, it was that extreme. In decent light the yellow of the bill was obvious from a great distance, but the overall size, posture and pale coloration would draw your attention even if the bill wasn't shining.
