Yellow-billed Loon

Lake Horton, GA

In this shot the bird appears a little darker than it did in person. Several features are shown to good effect though. The straight culmen and upturned look of the pale, largely unmarked bill are evident. In this shot the extensive pale eddges to the upperpats are visible, imparting the obviously scalloped appearance of the juvenile. The paleness of the neck and pattern of the head/neck are visible, as is the overall thickness and bulk of the neck.
