Apapane

This was definitely the most common of the Hawaiian Honeycreepers on Kaua'i, and the easiest to get looks and photos of as they were the only ones to regularly sit up in the tops of trees, often to sing. This bird is present on all of the islands, and was a constant companion on Pihea Ridge Trail. I had hoped to get a photo of the other native red bird on Kaua'i, the gorgeous Iiwi, which I saw several of, none of which were very cooperative.
