Even from a LONG WAY off, the striking pattern is apparent. There are some 1st-cycle Bonies with obvious carpal bars in the area, but nothing like this bird shows. Also on the Bonies that show this, the black breaks at the primary coverts, so it isn't a solid black line across the entire upperwing.
