These were quite the sight! Bill Pulliam found these birds, and I got over just before dark to enjoy some time with them.

The unbanded bird is a classic Trumpeter, with the massive flat bill and head, and broad loral skin connecting the eye. The banded bird, has a tiny bit of angle to the bill (though still much straighter than most Tundras), and a hair thinner loral skin, and being a bit smaller would be a tougher ID for me. But, the yellow band was only for Trumpeters, so that settled that quickly. Trumpeters are banded with a yellow, red, or green sock, while Tundras are banded with gray, blue, or black. Mute Swans are banded white only.
