Forth Rail Bridge

Queensferry, Scotland

Travelling north today and decided to stop at a famous Scottish location I have never shot
On arrival it was like a summer’s day with blue sky and very bright light, not very inspiring
So with the help of a polariser, 3 stop full ND filter, 3 stop hard line ND filter and an upside
down 1 stop hard line ND filter I managed to smooth the water and draw out strong reflections
Resulted in a >1 second exposure instead of a 1/100th and a much better overall effect

The long exposure works very fine here, softening the colour and the light of the sea in the foreground, and poping up the red of the bridge and the reflection of the piles.
The only critic I would have would be about the sky. Looks like you've been doing some post processing : clouds a little too gray and a curved line between dark and light blue can clearly be seen.
But as I said in my previous comment, I love this shot :)

Great shot - effort achieves! I keep on meaning to stop, but the time is never right. You seem to have overcome that problem

This is wonderful! I always want to come and take a picture of that bridge - but last time, empty stomach and fading light did not make it possible! It is a lovely shot - is it taken from teh north or south bank?

Nice shot. Sounds like the sort of light we have in Australia all the time. No breaks for twilight or early morning either. Nice result here.

One of my all time favourite icons!! There used to be a joke that said they never finish painting it..... start at one end and work to the other....but they never used to bandage it up, whilst they did it!!! It is now impossible to get an unwrapped shot of it....but I really think your approach here is spot on....even with the palaver.... V
