Salinas de Sa Vall (Palma de Mallorca)

Las salinas de Sa Vall o de la Colonia de Sant Jordi (situadas en el SE de la isla) son las segundas más antiguas del mundo (s. IV a.C.) ya que su explotación fue iniciada por los mercaderes púnicos. La sal continuó siendo el principal motivo de interés para romanos, bizantinos, árabes y cristianos. Su extracción todavía se realiza hoy con los métodos tradicionales durante el mes de Agosto.

The salt mines of Sa Vall or of the Cologne of Sant Jordi (SE of the island) are the second most ancient of the world (s. IVth B.C.) since its exploitation was initiated by the Punic merchants. The salt continued being the principal motive of interest for Roman, Byzantine, Arabic and Christian. The salt extraction is still realized today by the traditional methods during August.
