Bird's-eye view...

Lake Maggiore (Italy)

The mountains of the two lakes, this is how Mottarone mountain is called,
because of its peculiar position, from which one can enjoy a really marvelous panorama including Lake Maggiore and lake Orta.

Until the very beginning of last century from Stresa there was only one way to get here on the top...walking.

On 1911 they built a rack-railway, which remained in service until 1964.
Nowadays it’s even possible to get to the top of Mottarone by car, along a newly build road, or by cableway in about 30 minutes.

The view is actually breathtaking.
