Transformation

This is a new coffee shop which has opened up close to where I work.
It is, in a small way, a cause for celebration, not just because I don't have to walk as far if I fancy a latte.
It's a sign that people are beginning to have a little bit more confidence in the Irish economy, a sign that maybe, just maybe, things are beginning to pick up.
Fellow Pbaser Alan K commented recently that the value of doing a PAD lies not just in the quality of the photography (dubious in this case) but in documenting where we live.
I was reminded that I took a photo of this premises when another coffee shop and deli operated there. It closed down as the recession began to bite and there was an Asian foodstore there for a number of years which has since re-located to a larger premises.

I'm reminded of the scene in When Harry Met Sally when Bruno Kirby's character said (from memory) "I wrote that! Nobody's ever quoted me back to me before!" Not quite the same, but I'm most flattered, of course.
The change of the store is in itself an interesting story but d'you know what really strikes me about these two? The fact that in both there's a Mini. In shots 6 years apart, no less. Parked outside in the older shot, in the reflection in the current one. A century from now some archaeologist is going to be wondering exactly why the British brand of BMW were so popular in the Emerald Isle.

I find that I refer to my PaDs when trying to recollect something or show someone something. It is a visual diary for me. I like the photo and it's reflections.

It's the journo in you that brings the story and the eye you have that produces the photo...V

An interesting comparison. They certainly made it look more attractive.

Indeed a promising sign, and well captured. I like the "before" picture as well. V.

I so agree with Alan K's sentiments, and your terrific photos prove the point. V

Coffee is always good, even better when it's in your neighborhood. It's great that you had a photo of what the shop was before it transformed in to a coffee shop. Wait a few years and people won't even remember it was ever there even though they walk by it. Excellent photos!!

We had a sense that the Irish economy is beginning to improve when we were there - just back yesterday. Love the reflections. V
