There's still some snow on the mountains, making for very pretty scenery.
I would, no doubt, have gone up there to take some photos at the weekend but for the fact that I was recovering from a cold.
And I'm really glad I didn't for a reader sent us in some pictures of foals which starved to death on the mountains during the recent bad weather.
The problem of horses and ponies being left to fend for themselves on the mountains has been raised by rescues and over 30 horses were removed by the Department of Agriculture and local council a few weeks ago.
Unfortunately some remained and a number of them perished during the cold spell.
And the horses which were removed could be put down unless they are reclaimed by their owners or find a place in the already overcrowded animal rescues.
