Mostly I read literary fiction but put a cute cat on the cover of the book and I will be tempted to pick it up. 'Dewey' tells the story of a tiny kitten who was abandoned in the returns box of the Spencer library in Iowa. He was rescued by librarian Vicki Myron and named Dewey Readmore Books by the townspeople. He lived in the library, greeting readers and sitting on their laps. Dewey became famous after a number of newspaper articles were written about him and people travelled from all over America to see him. The book tells how he brought hope and joy into the lives of many and proved a catalyst for the town of Spencer, bringing townspeople together to survive the financial crisis of the 1980s.
