Church Music

The magnificent organ in St Patrick's, Dundalk was built by the renowned organ maker Henry Willis and was installed in 1900. The first public performance was given by Henry Lucas Balfour, who was organist of the Royal Albert Hall in London. The church is used as a venue for classical concerts and events in the annual Pipeworks festival are held there.

Very impressive and what a neat looking church with those painted walls. I'm used to exposed stone and a slightly musty, tired look.

ace shot of this interior, seemingly an ornate temple for believers..the toothy grin of the organ is echoed in the folds of the doorway arches...an uilleann piper down the pub might be a richer experience, particularly Paddy Keenan in full flow, yet this image captures perfectly the mood of the local hall of worship...V
