The first day of the first month

I don't do New Year resolutions. And I have mixed feelings about the sentimentality associated with New Year's Eve . I can understand the temptation to look back, to take stock and to start afresh with a clean slate. For many people in Ireland and elsewhere, 2010 is a year that is best forgotten for the dark shadows cast by the economic recession. But I prefer to rembember the good times, the simple pleasures shared with family and friends.

Excellent use of silhouette and the patterns that make it up. The darkening and moody sky works well in this context too. I view the New Year the same way as birthdays; I'd rather not reflect too much on what HASN'T been achieved, and celebrate only when things are. But admittedly even an arbitrary landmark is good for "I shall PAD each day" resolutions...
