I got a new camera today, a Nikon D90. I thought long and hard about buying it, given the current economic climate but as Sterling fell against Euro, I felt this was a good time to buy it, as effectively it was being discounted if I travelled across the border and bought it in Northern Ireland. So, as we finish work early on Tuesdays, I drove the short distance to Newry, bought it, came home, but the battery in the charger - and headed out again to cover a council meeting, so it will be tomorrow before I get a chance to play with my new toy.
Will it make me a better photographer? Probably not because I believe it's our eyes and hearts which make us good (or bad) photographers. Will it help me to take better photographs? I hope so. I still love my D40x and have no plans to mothball it but it just didn't have all the features I want as I strive to develop my skills as a photographer.
