This peaceful looking place has known its share of troubles. My young grandfather was drowned in this bay at the age of 23, leaving a younger widow and an infant son of six months. Recently the bay here has been the focus of a lot of protests against the Shell company as they forge on with a gas pipeline to a refinery further inland. I deliberately composed this shot to exclude the gasworks, to give an idea of the kind of serene peaceful place it can be.
