Reflections on my resolutions for 2008 as posted for the same kind of challenge this time last year:
• To practise what I’ve read in the books I’ve bought : truly I tried!
• To lose my reluctance to learn properly the use of layers in Photoshop: as one of our politicians here said famously “A lot done, more to do”
• To shoot the moon : YES!! With the kind help of Lee Rudd, having borrowed his settings from a posted moon image
• To take candids of strangers with their permission : YES again!! This time with the kind help of Frimpong the Travelling Bear who decided he would like to share my (wet, wet, wet) summer holiday in Ireland with me
• To conquer my sense of the ridiculous when I try to take SPs :YES! Temporarily, thanks to Frimpong. But the fear is back.
• To leave a little fuel in my energy reserve tank! Yes and no.
In addition I honestly tried
1. to keep my camera with me all the time – despite the jokes and smiles from the family
2. to experiment with my camera’s settings – a considerable challenge when I upgraded to D300
3. to incorporate some of the basic rules of composition in my images.
4. to take photos regularly, every day when possible, and I posted an image every day, even if weren’t always freshly taken.
5. to understand the importance of postprocessing
So now,for 2009 I would like to
1. learn the ins and outs of Lightroom more effectively (yes, yes, I have the books, and watch the videos regularly online!)
2. take more lowlight shots (I’m keeping a close eye on some excellent pbasers’ work for this)
3. learn to improve composition (again, I have already got sound advice from generous pbasers)
4. keep my eyes open for the good shot
5. accept that there will always be people who won’t like what I’m doing but accept also the good constructive criticism from experienced generous photographers.
