Children of Xidi China (Patrick Maechler)

Author Comment:
I think my first picture falls under the category expressing human
values and incongruities.
I took it while visiting the historic village of Xidi in the south of China.
I was expecting old houses in a museum-like atmosphere, just to find out
that the village is full of habitants living a normal life, while piles
of tourists are walking trough their village.
The children where waiting for their kindergarten teacher, standing in
'chinese discipline' at the wall in a daisy chain, and i could not
resist to take a picture.
Their reaction to my camera was varying: From very shy looking away to
very surprised about the tourist with the camera, interested in them
instead of the hisoric sites.
