Love your work Barri! Lately I have been toying with ultra high contrast(pure black/pure white) - especially portraits. It's addictive!

excellent use of highcontrast,most highkey images i´ve seen on pbase looks like wrong selection of shots , but your pics are perfectly chosen,well controlled contrast,great work Barri.

Does leaving only B or W means that you say less or that you say more ?

You really master the technique, Don!
Your gallery doesn't lack in punch and impact.
The theme as in your description is perfectly illustrated.
Bricks, Johnson Street 2, Oh Fajitas, Dead Factory, Standing on a Corner, and (last but not least) Rocking Chair are my favourites.

I see America in terms of contrast right now. I used to see it more in terms of variation. I see a society fractured by polarization, and I don't think I could have expressed that with gentle shades of color. I do thank you for your comment jimbrem, because it made me think of why I expressed this gallery in the way I did...and why I would do it again in the same exact way.

Very interesting, Barri - a large degree of abstraction here that challenges the viewer, and invites our participation. Wehave to fill in the blanks - and it gets our imaginations going. You sometimes find lyrical shapes in the most mundane of subjects. Great stuff!!

Yes. I did kind of think of calling this gallery "American Contrast" in fact I did call it that for a day or so. Then I changed it because America is Canada, Bolivia, Peru, Chile, Mexico, Cuba, etc. not just the U.S. Well maybe I shouldn't have changed it, cause then I start thinking that the corporations are all over the place, and conditions are being created similary in many places. Thank you very much for seeing that in this gallery.

Great "comeback" Barri. This one shows a more "modern" life inst it? A whole new challenge then. Cos`after all we know that the Burger King sign is red, and we see it red anyway. A whole challenge.
