1945 Aladdin Mountain Stove Still At Work Making Coffee

Tatoosh Lakes, Washington

This army stoves were issued only to the 10th Div. Mountain Troops and Air Force Flight crews as it's alumuinum tank made it lighter than the normal GI model 520 stove of the day. 5,500 btu's , 61 years old and still works well..

I have one of these, and the body and most of the stove is stainless steel. Just try to use it up. Nice to know about the spare parts. Protected and stored in an aluminum two piece container that can be used as pots. Thanks.

I've got one of these, mine is stamped 1942. It still has the directions on the side. It says to fill 3/4 full with gasoline. I use mine with white gas (coleman fuel) because of the much greater shelf life. The lever should be up for operation (in the down position it inserts a needle into the gas orifice to clean the tip). To light, pressurize the tank with 20-30 pumps. Lift the support arm into position, then open the valve to allow liquid fuel to fill the cup about 3/4 full then close. Light the fuel in the cup, this will heat the vapor generator. When the flame is almost out, open the valve and the vaporized fuel will ignite producing a nice hot blue flame. To shut down, close the valve and let cool off.
BTW, the pump body contains spare parts (new generator, pump seal and leather cup. A repair wrench (if you still have it) mounts to the side of the frame above the valve where the odd square shaped post sticks out. Good luck.
