HairLight 2020398

I started with an 8 foot spruce 2 x 2. You can use nicer (hardwood) wood if you want, but I was determined to keep cost at an absolute minimum.
I cut 3 feet off one end, and used that piece to make a 1.5 ft cross-lapped, X-shaped base. A long screw through the bottom of the base extends into the upright.
Although the finished unit is light enough to manoeuver easily, I added casters that I had on hand from replacing the ones on my office chair with better quality ones.
I used on-hand shelf brackets as braces for the upright, although using scrap wood pieces would have worked just as well.
