DEW PLANTATION

Missouri City TX

A few years ago, this old plantation house was moved from it's original location after the land was sold for commercial development.
This Plantation was one of the plantations central to the production of sugar cane in the region, helping the Imperial Sugar Company to become a thriving business.
We had many meetings and eventually got help from local government, who donated park land from Kitty Hollow.
The house was cut in half and moved. WHAT an ORDEAL. To see pics of the move, go to http://www.fortbendmuseum.org/dewalt/index.shtml

Terrific idea, this lovely house was worth the effort of moving. I have seen a movie about such action in some other place and even a bigger house.
